Thank you so much for your interest in Central California Dental Academy.  I, along with our instructors look forward to welcoming you to our innovative and unique course designed to expand your knowledge and prepare you for a career in the next level of registered dental assisting.

Central California Dental Academy offers training by faculty that are currently practicing RDAEFs and Dentists who have years of industry experience and have been educators for numerous years. We offer Dental Board approved courses for both the 410-hour program for Registered Dental Assistants in Expanded Functions for the existing RDA and the 311-hour program for existing RDAEF I’s who want to expand their scope of practice.

At CCDA, we have our own dedicated training center that offers an ergonomically friendly learning environment designed to help expand your skill set while you learn to perform more advanced restorative procedures. While attending this program, you will be provided with the most comprehensive, state of the art training from caring instructors that provide you with expert assistance in learning these new duties. CCDA is always expanding on the instruction students receive as we want to produce the most confident and capable RDAEF in the area.

We utilize a hybrid model where lectures are completed through an online program. This reduces lecture time in the classroom and cuts down on travel costs.

We understand how busy you are and to meet your needs, our instruction is provided on Saturdays and Sundays, every other weekend for approximately 7 months.

This allows you to continue to work while receiving your education and still allows for quality family time.

**Clinical loupes are required for this program as your examiners will be grading your work under magnification. It is suggested to use 2.5 magnification or higher. We work directly with Orascoptic who will send a representative to CCDA to properly size and fit each student to clinical loupes. You will receive academic pricing discounts with payment plan options. It is highly suggested that you purchase your loupes by the fourth week of Module One.

Because we only accept up to 10 students per course to ensure only the highest level of education, a non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is required with submission of this enrollment agreement.

We understand that life circumstances can be unpredictable, because tuition and program fees are non-refundable, we encourage payment by module to ensure each section is successfully completed without making a full commitment financially.

Minimum Standards for Admission into our RDAEF2 Program

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Currently licensed RDA, RDAEF1 or RDH

  • Current CPR certificate

  • Pit and Fissure Sealant certification

  • Minimum 1-year experience assisting in clinical restorative dentistry. (Experience shall have been within the past 3 years.)

  • Successful completion of entrance exam demonstrating competency in dental terminology

Course Description

The 410 Hour RDAEF Program trains RDAs in the following procedures:

• Conduct preliminary evaluation of the patient’s oral health, including, but not limited to, charting, intraoral and extra-oral evaluation of soft tissue, classifying occlusion, and myofunctional evaluation.

• Perform oral health assessments in school-based, community health project settings under the direction of a dentist, registered dental hygienist, or registered dental hygienist in alternative practice

• Size and fit endodontic master points and accessory points

• Cement endodontic master points and accessory points

• Take final impressions for tooth-borne removable prosthesis

• Place, contour, finish, and adjust all direct restorations.

• Polish and contour existing amalgam restorations

• Adjust and cement permanent indirect restorations

• Cord retraction of gingiva for impression procedures

• Take final impressions for permanent indirect restorations

• Concepts of impression and cementation for implant cases

The 311 Hour RDAEF Program trains RDAEFs in the following procedures:

• Conduct preliminary evaluation of the patient’s oral health, including, but not limited to, charting, intraoral and extra-oral evaluation of soft tissue, classifying occlusion, and myofunctional evaluation

• Perform oral health assessments in school-based, community health project settings under the direction of a dentist, registered dental hygienist, or registered dental hygienist in alternative practice

• Size and fit endodontic master points and accessory points
