8-Hour Infection Control
Course Description:
This course introduces infection and biohazard control procedures necessary for the safe practice of dentistry. Topics include microbiology, chemical disinfectants, infectious diseases, OSHA standards, and applicable state laws. Students practice aseptic techniques, Universal Precautions, and the processing and sterilization of instruments. Students will receive a minimum of 4 hours didactic by reading course materials, lecture and written examination, a minimum of 2 hours of laboratory/preclinical instruction and a minimum of 2 hours clinical instruction by successfully demonstrating competency in the performance of skills listed below in course requirements.
- Course Length: 8 HRS
- Clinical hands-on skills: 2 hours
- Hours of lab skills: 2 hours
- Lecture/Didactic: 4 hours
